“In the international arena: work of the UN staff”

Guest Speaker: Mr. Ion Botnaru, Director, General Assembly and ECOSOC Affairs Division
Department of General Assembly and Conference Management

“Together with the UN Seminar” is designed to provide opportunities to learn and think about the activities of the United Nations, and to know how one can collaborate “together” with the Organization. With the cooperation of other UN entities and partner organizations, a series of these interactive seminars have been hosted by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Tokyo, and will be held on a monthly basis.

For the eleventh seminar in January 2011, Mr. Ion Botnaru, Director, General Assembly and ECOSOC Affairs Division, Department of General Assembly and Conference Management (UNHQ) will speak about “In the international arena: work of the UN staff ”. As a UN staff member, and a former diplomat of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Botnaru will focus on the work the UN and the staff for the General Assembly and the ECOSOC. After his speech, a Q and A session will follow.

Mr. Botnaru served as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN for five years. In 2003, he joined the UN as Chief, General Assembly Affairs Branch, Department of General Assembly and Conference Management. In February 2010, he was appointed to the present post.
