Public Symposium A Better Path to Peace: Dynamic Collaboration between Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding

Press Release 10-087-E 2010.11.09

What will it take to establish sustainable peace in post-conflict societies? The answer lies in the collaboration between peacekeeping and peacebuilding, as well as the role played by the UN organizations including the Security Council and the international community.

In partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations Information Centre will organize a public symposium entitled “A Better Path to Peace: Dynamic Collaboration between Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding” on Wednesday, 1 December 2010 at the United Nations University Headquarters Building in Shibuya, Tokyo. Japan places strong emphasis on peacekeeping and peacebuilding and the symposium will focus on the latest discussions taking place among UN policy makers in New York, hear the voices from the field, and discuss how Japan could play its role in the future peacebuilding efforts. We will have broad participation from leading academics, practitioners, opinion leaders and others from within Japan and from the international community as panelists of the symposium. We look forward to your participation.
