Concept:

Increasing and expanding human activities are affecting the natural environment in an unprecedented scale, disrupting the stability of natural material and energy cycles that are essential to human survival. Global and local water cycles are the key to some of the most challenging issues confronting us today.
In this forum, the topic of sustaining water cycle for disaster risk reduction will be investigated from different viewpoints including restoration and sustainability of urban water cycle, groundwater problems in greater Tokyo, integrated water quality management and role of water cycle in sustainability, to arrive at new paradigms for sustaining water cycle for disaster risk reduction.
