Top UN Human Resources Management Officials to Speak about Employment Opportunities with the United Nations

·A United Nations Secretariat Recruitment Mission, led by Catherine Pollard, Assistant Secretary-General for Human Resources Management, is visiting Japan this month. Assistant Secretary-General Pollard will use this opportunity to deliver a public lecture entitled “Serving the United Nations for a Better World”.
·Her lecture will be followed by presentations on employment opportunities at the UN by John Ericson, Outreach Unit Chief, UN Office of Human Resources Management, and Susan Huntington, Outreach Coordinator, UN Department of Field Support for Peacekeeping Operations.
·Two Japanese nationals — Ken Inoue, Director of the Governance Support Unit, UN Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT), and Mihoko Itoh, Outreach Unit, UN Office of Human Resources Management — will then report on their experience at the frontline of United Nations fieldwork.
·Opening and closing remarks will be presented by, respectively, Govindan Paryil, Vice-Rector, UNU, and Shigeyuki Hiroki, Deputy Director-General, Foreign Policy Bureau, MoFA.
·This event represents a valuable opportunity for people in Japan who are interested in a career with the United Nations to hear directly from senior UN human resources management officials as well as from Japanese nationals now working with the UN.
