Trip Announcement – Japan, 26-27 May

The Secretary-General is planning to make an official visit to Japan from 26 to 27 May. He plans to attend an outreach meeting of the G7 Ise-Shima Summit in Japan. His last visit to Japan was 14 months ago, in March 2015, when he attended the 3rd UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai. This will be his 9th visit to Japan.

Before arriving to Japan, the Secretary-General will participate in the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, which is held on 23-24 May and the Jeju Forum in South Korea (25-26 May). On 30 May, he will take part in the opening session of the annual UNDPI/NGO Conference in Gyeongju, South Korea. Over 2,000 representatives from all regions of the world will be in attendance to focus on the role of education in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
