I send my warmest greetings to the Concert for Peace series, and I thank the United Nations Staff Recreation Council Singers for bringing their talents to Japan as it marks 70 years as a UN Member State.

The tour’s Peace Declaration reminds us that music truly is the language of peace.

For decades, the UNSRC Singers have delivered this message to global audiences through the timeless power of choral music, an art form that brings disparate voices into harmony.

At the United Nations, Japan has long lent its own voice to the cause of peace around the world, building bridges of understanding through diplomacy, dialogue and partnership across the decades.

Peace is always within our grasp. In a time of division and discord, may these concerts rekindle our shared humanity, and inspire us to build a future free from conflict and strife.
