“The challenges to promote gender equality and the activities of UN Women”

Guest Speaker: Ms. Steinunn Gudjonsdottir UN Women Japan Liaison Officer, a.i.

“Together with the UN Seminar” is designed to provide opportunities to learn and think about the activities of the United Nations, and to know how one can collaborate “together” with the Organization. With the cooperation of other UN entities and partner organizations, the series of these interactive seminars have been hosted by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Tokyo, and will continually be held on a monthly basis.

For the fourteenth seminar in April 2011, Ms. Steinunn Gudjonsdottir (UN Women) will speak about “The challenges to promote gender equality and the activities of UN Women”. After her speech, Q and A session will follow.

Ms. Steinunn Gudjonsdottir specialized in gender and　ansolopogy. She participated in various activities, especially related with the advancement of women, at the university. Between 2007 and 2010 she worked as the Secretary-General of UNIFEM National Committee in Iceland. In May 2010, she was appointed to the present post.
