The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Ishiba Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan. The Secretary-General thanked Japan for its hosting of Expo 2025 in Osaka as well as the 9th Tokyo International Conference for African Development. He also expressed his deep appreciation for Japan’s longstanding commitment to multilateralism and its steadfast support to the United Nations.

The Secretary-General and Prime Minister Ishiba also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including UN reforms, nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and global and regional issues.
