　早春の候、皆様にはますます御健勝のこととお慶び申し上げます。

　さて、この度国連広報センター（東京）と国連大学は、コフィー・アナン国連事務総長の「ミレニアム報告書」の発表を、下記の通り4月4日（火）国連大学において開催する運びとなりました。
　これは4月3日（月）、午前10時ニューヨークの国連本部で開催される、アナン国連事務総長の「ミレニアム報告書」発表会議を衛星回線を使用し、同時に東京を含む全世界18ヵ所（アジスアベバ、バンコク、ベイルート、ジュネーブ、ラゴス、ロンドン、メキシコ、モスクワ、ナイロビ、パリ、ローマ、サンチャゴ、ウィーン、ニューデリー、北京、イスタンブール）ヘ向け配信するという国連広報局（UN/DPI）の新たな試みのひとつです。
　この報告書は2000年9月5日から国連ニューヨーク本部で開催されるミレニアム総会、6日から始まるミレニアム・サミットに先立ち、これまで世界各地で行われてきた地域公聴会（アジア地域は東京の国連大学において昨年9月に開催済）での提言を盛り込み、ミレニアムサミットでの議論のたたき台になる重要な報告書です。
　21世紀へ向けた国連の新たな試みに、是非皆様お誘いあわせの上ご参加ください。

Note for Journalists

　Journalists who wish to cover the conference could obtain Secretary-General’s statement and the live pictures on time through UNTV and International Broadcast Centre/IBC） by taking the following measures：

1. The TV coverage of the Secretary-General’s statement to the General Assembly on 3 April, and the press briefing which will follow immediately his GA Speech.
   • Broadcast quality UNTV signal available live from Waterfront （broadcasters should request “loop 1645” and The Switch -assuming there is no simulataneous UNTV coverage, such as Security Council （broadcasters will need to pick up the signal at distribution hub at their own expenses）

   • Broadcast quality UNTV signal distributed live via EBU （to be confirmed）
   • As with all other important events at Headquarters, international TV syndicators such as Reuters and APTN will be feeding their stories -based on UNTV coverage of the SG’s speech and the subsequent press conference -to their subscribers.
2. The audio from these events will be available from the UN website, and will also be fed directly to selected radio stations from the International Broadcast Centre （IBC） at UN Headquarters.
3. A live webcast on the UN homepage of these two 3 April events. The webcast will also be archived, so that it will be available upon demand.
