パチャウリIPCC議長の来日予定について

気候変動に関する政府間パネル（IPCC）は2007年11月17日、第4次評価報告の締めくくりとして、スペインのバレンシアで「統合報告書（Synthesis Report）」を発表しました。この統合報告書は、温室効果ガスの影響とその軽減オプションについてIPCCが発表した文書の中でも、最強の文書との世界的な評価を受けています。ちなみに、IPCCは米国のアル・ゴア元副大統領とともに、2007年のノーベル平和賞を受賞しています。このことは、世界各地における気候変動とその平和と安全との重要な関わりを表しているといえるでしょう。

IPCCの議長を務めるラジェンドラ・クマル・パチャウリ氏は、12月18日（火）から21日（金）にかけて来日し、東京と京都で数回の講演を行う予定です。さらに詳しい情報については、国連広報センター（UNIC）にお問い合せください。

Press release relating to the proposed visit to Japan by Dr. R.K. Pachauri, Chairman, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

The IPCC has completed its Fourth Assessment Report with the release of the Synthesis Report in Valencia, Spain, on November 17, 2007. This Synthesis Report has been acknowledged worldwide as perhaps the strongest document brought out by the IPCC on all aspects of including impacts and options for mitigation of emissions of greenhouse gases. It may be noted the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 has been awarded jointly to the IPCC and former US Vice President Al Gore. This development highlights the importance of climate change and its linkages with the prospects for peace and security in various parts of the world.

Dr. Pachauri will be visiting Japan during the period 18-21 December and would be visiting Tokyo as well as Kyoto for several speaking engagements. Further information please contact the United Nations Information Centre:
